Exclusive Excerpt:
I pulled off the main road of Paige’s home and slipped my truck into park. An overwhelming sense of relief filled me when I saw she’d made it home safely. All the lights were off, and nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary. Except the lonely ache I felt inside. I’d barely ate or slept in four days. But in this moment, I just wanted Paige, nothing else mattered. The thought of her sleeping alone in her bed without me combined with the desperate need to feel her body against mine had me slouching forward and resting my forehead against the steering wheel. I closed my eyes briefly, and muttered, “Don’t do it, idiot,” as I fought the impulse to go to her. I could practically feel her heart beating—her soul calling to mine—I was that connected to her. I was a starved man, yearning to have her in my arms. Before I was able to stop myself, I was striding across her front lawn, feeling an internal pull to be with her. I went around to the backside of the house and tapped on her window. While standing there my attention fell to the grass, and all of the reasons why this was a bad idea oppressed me. I shouldn’t be here. Staying away from Paige was the only way I could protect her. I couldn’t let Hank see how deeply mine and Paige’s love went for one another, or he could possibly take his animosity for me out on her. And if Hank hurt Paige in any way, it would be game over—there was no telling what I would do. She was my weakness and my strength all rolled into one, right around my heart. Just as I was about to walk away and let Paige be, a dim light flickered on. The white curtain covering the window pane was drawn to the side, and I lifted my gaze. Paige stood before me staring through the clear glass, dressed in a long white tee. The conflicting emotions in her beautifully brown eyes reflected the way I felt inside, and it caused my heart to thump unevenly. She lifted the window and then leaned forward while wrapping her fingers around the window frame, peering down at me. “Colton,” she breathed my name, and I was uncertain if it was meant as a greeting or a question. “Can I come in?” I queried, getting straight to the point before I came up with reasons to force myself to leave her be. “Yes.” She stepped aside. I braced my palms on the bottom ledge and hoisted myself upward. My right shoulder hit the window framing as the upper half of my body made it inside her room. I hadn’t crawled through this window in ages, but the damn thing seemed smaller. I lowered my feet to the ground and stood tall before briefly turning to close the window at my back. When I faced the room again, Paige was at the edge of her bed. She sat down and nestled herself under the comforter. When her eyes met mine, she grasped the corner of the blanket and lifted it as though a silent invitation. Without a single sound, I slipped off my boots and went to her. Once climbing in next to her, she let the comforter gradually fall over me and stretched over to the nightstand where she turned off the light. Then, she settled back down on her right hip, her back toward me. I could feel her hesitation as she tried to distance herself from me. To feel that kind of uncertainty pouring out of her was the same as someone cracking open my chest and grabbing ahold of my heart. But in truth, I couldn’t blame her for feeling this way, because it was my fault for being hot and cold all over the place. It wasn’t fair to her. Desperately craving her warmth and needing to know that we were okay even though it was wrong of me to do so, my arm came to the center of her stomach, and in slow motion, I hauled her into my chest. She didn’t fight me. I outstretched one arm above her head and rested my cheek on my bicep while scooting closer till my nose rested against her hair, so I could inhale the sweet scent of her. With my other hand still at her center, I began to methodically rub tiny circles on her abdomen with the pad of my thumb. Her breathing increased with every full loop. My eyes began to fall heavy with the weight of the last few days. I was so damn tired, but lying here with Paige—just like this—was all I ever wanted. “Colton?” she asked suddenly out of the blue. “Yeah?” Her hand came to my wrist and she caressed it softly. “What are you doing here?” Paige couldn’t have asked me a tougher question, and I bit back the defeat I felt inside. I didn’t hold the answer she was looking for. Instead, I made light of the situation, hoping to make her smile. “Sneaking in your window. Which shrunk drastically in size over the years, by the way.” A quiet laughter seeped out of her, and I found myself genuinely smiling for the first time in days. She rotated to face me and set her hand on my chest. “It didn’t shrink. You have—” She skimmed her palm across my chest up to my shoulder—“broadened, so you don’t fit through it as well as you used to.” “Maybe,” I grinned mischievously. In that instant, so many childhood reminiscences with Paige flashed through my mind, all of them filling my soul with sense of peace. As a teen, there had been countless nights where I longed to see her so I’d go to her house and knock on her window. Paige would come outside, and we would lay in the grass for hours, watching the stars. Even in the midst of my darkest days, those memories could bring a smile to my face. It was her that kept me going. An unexplainable calm tranquility settled over me at having Paige’s body pressed against mine. She gave me hope I’d find myself again, and she made me believe someday I could let go of the hate and revenge I carried inside of me. A profound tiredness took over me from the build-up of the past several happenings, and I was losing the will power to keep my eyes open. Paige rose her hand to touch my cheek, caressing it. Her skin was so soft. “Colton?” she repeated my name, softer this time. I gazed down at her. “Yeah?” The movement of my thumb paused on her stomach from the intensity burning in her eyes. “You know that’s not the answer I was looking for…” “No, it wasn’t,” I agreed, knowing she deserved an honest explanation. “I don’t know why I’m here, only that I didn’t have the strength to stay away, so please, just let me hold you.” “Okay.” She set her finger on my lower lip and gently ran it back and forth. Then, she leaned in and softly kissed the corner of my mouth. “Goodnight, cowboy.” “Night,” was all I had time to say before sleep carried me away.

Excerpt

My phone rings, startling me. When I look at the screen and see Calvin’s name, I find myself letting out a little girlie squeal.
“Hello, you,” I say, snuggling into my seat.
“So, I wake up from an amazing sleep, look out of my window, and guess what?” he asks in a croaky voice, which sounds like he has, indeed, just woken up.
“What?”
“I see this beautiful girl sitting in a chair in her garden, sipping on what I assume is coffee, and I feel the need to say morning to her.”
“Is that right?” I smile.
“Yup.”
A noise coming from the bottom of my garden startles me. When I see Calvin jump my back fence using one arm, still holding his phone in the other, I can’t believe my eyes. He smiles and briskly walks over to me. I’m stunned, the damn phone still attached to my ear. As soon as he reaches me, he bends down and plants a small kiss on my mouth. He then smiles and says, “Morning”, before turning and walking back to the fence to jump it again. I’m totally dumbstruck. Who does that? Calvin, that’s who. I laugh and shake my head, ending the call when I hear his chuckle.

Ember by Rachel Van Dyken BLOG TOUR!

I am a Killer. A Rapist. A Monster.
I know only pain and survival.
That is until the Cappo's sister walked into my life.
And changed everything.
She's a light who makes my darkness darker, her smile makes my heart turn to ice, and I can't escape the fear her seductive looks instill--knowing it's only a matter of time before I fail--again, and take her for myself.
This is the story of my redemption.
But it's not pretty...I died, and now I'm alive, but not living, breathing but not surviving. I am Phoenix De Lange, son to a murdered mob boss, estranged brother, horrible friend, monster in the making, newest leader to one of the most powerful families in the Cosa Nostra.
And I will have my vengeance.
Or die trying.
I am Phoenix De Lange.
Death is all I know.
Until she offers me a piece of life--I can't resist taking.

5*

It is no secret how addicted I am to the Eagle Elite series, and Ember has well and truly fed that addiction!
As soon as Ember was announced I was excited and apprehensive in equal parts. Anyone who has read the previous books will know why I have a love/hate relationship with Phoenix but Rachel has put any, and all, reservations I had about him and his story to rest!
The story of Phoenix De Lange was never going to be an easy one to tell and Rachel has really outdone herself this time. She has done an amazing job of tackling a very sensitive issue and successfully spun Phoenix and his story on it's head until it's no longer clean cut, no longer black and white, but a total haze of beautifully spun greys and silver.

I knew it was going to be heart wrenching because of Phoenix's past, but I really wasn't expecting to be as emotionally involved as I was. All the walls I had built up where Phoenix was concerned have been well and truly smashed down...and I honestly couldn't be happier about it! Whilst Nixon and Trace will always be my favourite Elite couple, Phoenix and Bee are a really close 2nd... It may even be a tie it's so close. I just love the way Bee teases and taunts him! The rest of the gang didn't disappoint either, they were all on top form and I was crying with laughter more than once. Ember is a seriously epic book and it's a fantastic addition to the series.

Thank you Rachel for letting Phoenix tell his story.

5*
Anyone who knows me, knows that Dan Evans is mine, and that Troy Harris is my sisters. So as soon as this hit my kindle I pulled an all nighter to finish my reading list and dived right in to the magically woven tale of rock n roll and friendships that are as tightly woven as a family. The chemistry between Gephart's characters is secondary to none! Each member of the band has had their own personality since the Lexi series and somehow Tina's managed to stay true to that! the continuity of each book and the timeline of character events is flawless. At no point do you find yourself thinking ''Dan would never say that'' Troy has an absolute heart of gold and he and Megan have personalities that compliment each other perfectly! However, I think everyone can see the potential problems that could develop if they give into their feelings, after all, their best friends are Dan and Ash. if things went wrong...they could go really wrong. So they decide that the best way of getting over this attraction is to...sweat it out lol As I'm sure you can guess...that plan went down like petrol on a forest fire! and sexy, hot, passionate chaos ensues! Gephart has this magical way of making you feel like these are your friends. You care as much about their fate as you do about your own. This is the perfect blend of American pie and loves young dream. So funny that you'll spit out your drink...but as sweet and tender as a modern day Romeo and Juliet in the same breath. Would I recommend that you read this....Pah I'd recommend you take a few weeks off work and start at the beginning! read the whole series, swim in the magic and just remember...Dan is Mine! 5 stars!!!!

Author Bio

T Gephart is an indie author from Melbourne, Australia.

T's approach to life has been somewhat unconventional. Rather than going to University, she jumped on a plane to Los Angeles, USA in search of adventure. While this first trip left her somewhat underwhelmed and largely depleted of funds it fueled her appetite for travel and life experience.

With a rather eclectic resume, which reads more like the fiction she writes than an actual employment history, T struggled to find her niche in the world.

While on a subsequent trip the United States in 1999, T met and married her husband. Their whirlwind courtship and interesting impromptu convenience store wedding set the tone for their life together, which is anything but ordinary. They have lived in Louisiana, Guam and Australia and have traveled extensively throughout the US. T has two beautiful young children and one four legged child, Woodley, the wonder dog.

An avid reader, T became increasingly frustrated by the lack of strong female characters in the books she was reading. She wanted to read about a woman she could identify with, someone strong, independent and confident and who didn't lack femininity. Out of this need, she decided to pen her first book, A Twist of Fate. T set herself the challenge to write something that was interesting, compelling and yet easy enough to read that was still enjoyable. Pulling from her own past "colorful" experiences and the amazing personalities she has surrounded herself with, she had no shortage of inspiration. With a strong slant on erotic fiction, her core characters are empowered women who don't have to sacrifice their femininity. She enjoyed the process so much that when it was over she couldn't let it go.

T loves to travel, laugh and surround herself with colorful characters. This inevitably spills into her writing and makes for an interesting journey - she is well and truly enjoying the ride!

Based on her life experiences, T has plenty of material for her books and has a wealth of ideas to keep you all enthralled.
