Yet nothing he's experienced has been as painful as the day Ellie left—until the moment she came back. This time Jamie is determined to hold on to Ellie forever. But as much as she still loves him, she can't ignore the dark world he's now a part of. Jamie has enemies. Dangerous ones. And after seeing Jamie with Ellie, they know exactly how to take him out . . .

EXCERPT

“’Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.” Alfred, Lord Tennyson, said that in some poem in the 1800s. In my opinion, Alfred, Lord Tennyson, was full of shit.
Maybe Lord Tennyson had never truly loved someone; maybe he’d never cared for someone else more than he cared for himself, because if he had, if he’d loved someone so deeply he’d been willing to die for them, how could he have written such a horseshit line? I’m merely speculating, of course. I’m no academic, so I know nothing about the guy other than that one quote. So how then, you may ask, does my opinion so vehemently disagree with his?
Because I was in love once.
Only once.
And I lost her.
And I would give any fucking thing in the world to have never loved her at all. No, it most definitely is not better to have loved and lost..
Fuck love. And fuck Lord Tennyson.

THE FIGHTING TO BE FREE SERIES

Fighting To Be Free, #1
Worth Fighting For, #2

★★★★★

Worth Fighting For is easily one of the best sequels I’ve read in a while, it takes something special to keep me just as invested and interested in characters after 300+ pages as I was in the first chapter but somehow Kirsty has done that and then some, she not only kept my interest piqued with these characters but she made me fall in love with them all over again. There is no doubt in my mind that Kirsty has smashed it out of the park with this series.

There’s a couple of years gap between the end of Fighting to Be Free and Worth Fighting For, which means both Jamie and Ellie have built separate and very different lives, I was a bit apprehensive about the way they were going clash because of how different they are now, but I should have known better because even though they have both changed a bit they are still the same Jamie and Ellie at heart. Once again the story is told from both Jamie and Ellie’s POV and I can’t imagine their story being told any other way, it would drive me crazy not knowing what the other was thinking or feeling. I adored the sweet side of Jamie that we got to see in Fighting to Be Free, but it has to be said that dark and dangerous Jamie in Worth Fighting For is incredible... There are a few parts when my jaw just dropped because let’s face it everyone loves a bad boy and Jamie is something else ;).

I was so totally hooked on this book I just couldn’t put it down... I didn’t predict a single part of the story and even though the suspense was unbearable at times I just about managed to resist the urge to page flip!! I’m not going to say much more because there are way too many possible spoilers but I will say this, dive in headfirst you really won’t be sorry. Thank you for another incredible book Kirsty <3

The Bachelor Auction by Rachel Van Dyken RELEASE BLITZ!

Are you ready to Meet Brock Wellington?
The Bachelor Auction is NOW AVAILABLE!
Amazon US  **  Amazon UK  **  iBooks  **  B&N  **  Kobo  **  GooglePlay

Blurb
Jane isn't entirely sure that Cinderella got such a raw deal. Sure, she had a rough start, but didn't she eventually land a prince and a happily-ever-after? Meanwhile, Jane is busy waiting on her demanding, entitled sisters, running her cleaning business, and . . . yep, not a prince in sight. Until a party and a broken shoe incident leave Jane wondering if princes---or at least, a certain deliciously hunky billionaire---maybe do exist.
Except Brock Wellington isn't anyone's dream guy. Hell, a prince would never agree to be auctioned off in marriage to the highest bidder. Or act like an arrogant jerk---even if it was just a façade. Now, as Brock is waiting for the auction chopping block, he figures it's karmic retribution that he's tempted by a sexy, sassy woman he can't have. But while they can't have a fairy-tale ending, maybe they can indulge in a little bit of fantasy . .

★★★★★
I was pleasantly surprised by The Bachelor Auction, it isn’t at all what I was expecting and I really didn’t think I’d love it as much as I did.

Ok so I need to say this before I get any further... I LOVE BROCK AND JANE, like serious amounts, they are honestly epic and I loved seeing how they reacted and behaved around each other from chapter to chapter. Brock’s brothers, Bentley and Brant, are hilarious, there weren’t many scenes they were in that didn’t have me crying with laughter, Jane’s sisters however are the complete opposite, they were definitely my love to hate characters and when I was laughing it was at them, not with them. The Wellington brothers all have very different personalities and unique traits that have already got me hooked on all three of them, I really can’t wait for more from this series! I had mixed emotions toward Brock’s grandfather, Charles, as The Bachelor Auction is told from both Brock and Jane’s POVs you get to see him from both of their perspectives and he’s definitely one of those characters where you can just tell from the start that there is more going on beneath the surface.

The story is full of a fairy tale worthy love and magic, humour and a good mix of sweet and sexy moments. I think my favourite bits were at the ranch because of the animals and the twins... They just add a unique element of humour and because of them and the surroundings you get to see a totally different side of Brock. All in all I thought it was a beautiful story full of laughs and that unique something that is totally Rachel, another great start to a promising series!

The Trouble with Mistletoe by Jill Shalvis RELEASE SPOTLIGHT!

If she has her way . . .

Willa Davis is wrangling puppies when Keane Winters stalks into her pet shop with frustration in his chocolate-brown eyes and a pink bedazzled cat carrier in his hand. He needs a kitty sitter, stat. But the last thing Willa needs is to rescue a guy who doesn’t even remember her . . .

He’ll get nothing but coal in his stocking.

Saddled with his great-aunt’s Feline from Hell, Keane is desperate to leave her in someone else’s capable hands. But in spite of the fact that he’s sure he’s never seen the drop-dead-gorgeous pet shop owner before, she seems to be mad at him . . .

Unless he tempers “naughty” with a special kind of nice . . .

Willa can’t deny that Keane’s changed since high school: he’s less arrogant, for one thing—but can she trust him not to break her heart again? It’s time to throw a coin in the fountain, make a Christmas wish—and let the mistletoe do its work . . .

★★★★☆
This is the first book I’ve read by Jill, I was instantly intrigued by the synopsis and was eager to jump in headfirst and it has to be said that I wasn’t disappointed. This is the second book the Heartbreaker Bay series and it is a complete standalone, I haven’t read the first book and I wasn’t lost or feeling out of the loop at all so you don’t need to have read the first one.

Willa is stubborn and hard headed, she’s also extremely loyal and once you’re in her inner circle you’re in until you pull the plug... Having said that, because she’s so stubborn the others have to work hard and prove they are worth it to even get a glimpse of that side of her. Keane has the same stubbornness as Willa and is just as loyal even if he won’t admit it to even himself. There is a whole host of secondary characters that are vital to the story... Most of them are Willa’s friends but Keane has a few of his own as well, my favourites were Elle, Archer and Sass, Elle because she has a dry humour that just made me laugh, Archer because he just has that mysterious thing going on that intrigued me and Sass because well she is sassy as hell and I loved seeing her banter with Keane.

I love Christmas, I love everything about it from the atmosphere to the food and I REALLY love books set at Christmas, but I’m quite picky about what makes the perfect Christmas book... I like there to be a balance between the story and the Christmas stuff, I feel if there is too much of one it drowns out the other completely, but The Trouble with Mistletoe had the perfect balance, a good romance story surrounded by the magic that only Christmas can bring. You see both Keane and Willa grow throughout the story, they slowly change until they aren’t quite the same people you meet in chapter one, I liked that it was a slow build and not rushed, it made it more believable and it gave me time to fully appreciate it. The balance between funny and serious moments was good, I found the humour spot on and I couldn’t help but laugh out loud a few times, especially at Pita’s antics.

All in all in was a really nice all round story, funny, sweet and full of Christmas magic.

Excerpt

“You want to come upstairs, Willa?”
What she wanted was to put her hands back on his chest now that she knew it was as hard as it looked. Instead she gripped either side of her seat with white knuckles. “Of course not.”
“I think you do. I think you want something else too.”
“What I want,” she said as coolly as she could, “is dinner as promised.”
“Liar,” he chided softly.
“Well that’s just rude, calling your date a liar.”
“So it is a date.” His tone was very male and very smug. It should’ve pissed her off but instead it did something hot and erotic to her insides.
Clearly knowing it, he smiled at her and then dragged his teeth over his lower lip as he contemplated her.
Gah. She wanted to do that. And she wanted to do more too. She wanted him shockingly badly and suddenly she couldn’t remember why she shouldn’t. She tried to access her thought processes on the subject but her brain hiccupped and froze. Which surely was the only reason she let go of the death grip on her seat, slid her fingers into his hair, and . . . brushed her mouth over his.
He didn’t move, not a single muscle, but when she pulled back, his eyes had gone dark as night, piercing her with their intensity.
“Don’t read that the wrong way,” she whispered.
“Is there a wrong way to take it when a beautiful woman kisses you?”

FB Banner

Title: The Uprising
Series: GRIT (Sector 1): Book 2
Genre: Dark Romance

sensual portrait

I thought he was mine.
I LIVED WITH TOO MANY DEMONS.
He belonged to the underground.
AND THE UNDERGROUND WERE COMING FOR HER.
I wanted to know every secret.
I THOUGHT I KNEW EVERY SECRET.
I thought we were safe.
WE WOULD NEVER BE SAFE.
I thought we had won the fight.
BUT THE WAR WAS ABOUT TO BEGIN...

Trixie Ashford-Blackwood is now a part of a world she had no idea existed a mere few months ago. Married to a vigilante, heir to the throne of the organisation governing London, and chasing her own tail as she tries to uncover more clues about her purpose within GRIT, Trixie is battling against time as much as she is her husband. She has no idea what lies ahead, no idea who the man is who lays with her at night, and no idea of the traitors hiding in plain sight, waiting to spill her priceless blood. Elias Blackwood continues to fight his urges. He controls his desires, keeps the beast contained and refuses to acknowledge the risk that he may let loose on his wife. GRIT is slipping through his fingers, his control wavering with every minute that passes, while betrayal runs rife within the ranks of his army. He fights against time, and the people who are trying to bring the king of the empire to his knees; to not only keep them alive, but save a city that is drowning in evil and debauchery. But GRIT aren’t the only people working the Capital. Someone else is watching them. Analysing them. Preparing to strike. Someone else is preparing to step up and threaten their place on the throne. Someone is about to declare war on GRIT. An uprising is upon them. No one could have foreseen the betrayal. No one could have anticipated the devastation they would soon have to face.
*Warning: GRIT is a dark romance series. There are no rainbows and butterflies.

★★★★★

I am constantly floored by this author... Just when I think I have her sussed out she changes the boundaries and leaves me reeling and she has done it again with The Uprising, she’s taken everything I thought I knew and made me realise that what I actually knew barely scratched the surface.

I thought it was impossible to love Elias more than I did but I was proven wrong... Somehow as he was showing Trixie the many different sides of himself I managed to fall in love with him more, I just love that he isn’t the same as any other character I have come across, he made me fall for Elias the monster, Elias the deviant and Elias the hero all within one single chapter, I really don’t know how Rebecca does it! Trixie really surprised me throughout the book, I wasn’t expecting her to react and behave the way she did at all, after the way GRIT Sector 1: Elias ended I thought for sure that I’d be opening this book up to find a completely different Trixie, so what I found shocked me but in a good way. One other character that I found I was intrigued by is Trace... I wanted to know more about him anyway but now I NEED to know more, he just surprised me in a few of the chapters and now I’m making grabby hands for his story ;).

In my opinion The Uprising is a lot more grittier than Elias, you get to see a little deeper into GRIT and a little deeper into the underground and they are both pretty dark in their own way. There were quite a few twists and turns in the story that kept me on my toes... And then there were the revelations that just shocked me and left me gobsmacked, even though there were some hints here and there I wasn’t prepared for most of them and I love how unexpected it was. I need to take a minute to say.... THAT ENDING!!!!! WTH!!!! I now really can’t wait for The Revolution and that ending is partially the reason for my eagerness!! Thank you for another gripping and tantalizing book Rebecca, I can’t see where Elias, Trixie and GRIT go from here!

THE FIGHTING TO BE FREE SERIES

Fighting To Be Free, #1
Worth Fighting For, #2

★★★★★

Just wow, I don’t really know where to begin because 5 stars just doesn’t seem like enough, this book deserves so much more than that... Kirsty is one of the few authors that I’ll blindly buy everything she publishes, I love her writing style and the way she brings the characters to life blows my mind. Fighting to Be Free was a book that I hadn’t really read much about, I didn’t read the earlier version on Wattpad, I didn’t read many excerpts and I read only a handful of teasers. I just couldn’t bring myself to take even the slightest chance that I would ruin my reading experience, I wanted to read it whole and I wanted it so bad that it’s been on my calendar since the release date was announced. Because I hadn’t read much about Fighting to Be Free I steered clear of EVERYTHING to do with Worth Fighting For (Book 2), I didn’t actually read the synopsis until I had finished Fighting to Be Free and I am so glad I didn’t, it definitely would have changed my reading experience and even though I was left raw from it I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Jamie and Ellie are just incredible, because I had stayed away from teasers etc I had no idea what kind of characters they were, whether I would love them or hate them, and as it turns out at times I loved to hate them ;). Both of them are more complex than they look on the surface, I was so happy when I realised that the story was told from both POVs, I don’t think I could have handled not knowing what was going through both of their heads... Sometimes having a story in one POV is good for building suspense but with this one there is more than enough suspense and more of it surely would have driven me mad, I was just too emotionally invested to cope with the not knowing. I can’t sing their praises enough and I could spend ages listing all the reasons why I love them but I’ll just go with my main reason... They seem human, they both make mistakes and they both have hang ups that make them seem so real in a fictional world and having that injection of reality made it so much easier to connect with them.

From the very first chapter this book stole my heart, with each high the fist that seemed to be wrapped around my heart would loosen, but for every high there is a low and when that low came it was almost unbearable, I just wanted to save them from themselves and the people around them... A few times I had to put my Kindle down and walk away because my emotions were all over the place. I don’t feel like anything I could say will do it justice, it’s just a really amazing book... I am once again well and truly blown away by Kirsty’s talent, she never fails to deliver but with this one she went above and beyond any expectations I had. Thank you for sharing these two with the world Kirsty, I absolutely, wholeheartedly, unconditionally love them! <3

EXCERPT

He rolled onto his side, reaching out his hand and pulling me against him as he slowly ran his hands down my back.
“That was incredible, Ellie,” he murmured, kissing my nose. He was grinning from ear to ear as he stroked his fingers across my cheekbone.
I smiled and sighed contentedly. “Yeah, it was.” And it really had been. That was incredible; he had been soft and tender, his hands seeming to explore every part of me as he’d taken my body to heaven and back again. He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me tightly against him, tangling our legs together as he just looked at every inch of my face with a small, satisfied smile on his lips.
“You don’t have much stuff,” I stated after we’d been silently cuddling on his bed for a couple of minutes.
He frowned. “Uh, no, I haven’t even been here a week.”
“Where were you living before?” I probed, wanting to hear the sound of his sexy voice some more. He shifted uncomfortably, and I took the hint that he didn’t want to talk about it. “That’s okay, you don’t have to say.” I rolled so that I was on top of him and sat up, straddling him. He ran his hands up my thighs and rested them on my hips, just watching me with a satisfied smile on his face.
I sighed. It was time to go. This was where it got a little awkward. What was I supposed to say? Thanks and good-bye? “So, I guess I should get going. Would you mind calling me a cab?” I asked, climbing off him and looking around the room for my clothes.
The bed creaked behind me. “You’re going? Why?” I didn’t need to look to know he would be frowning—I could hear the shock in his tone.
I smiled at him over my shoulder. He was sitting up on the bed, a little pouty expression on his face as he watched my every move. “Well, I’ve never had a one-night stand before, but I thought that was how it worked: You have sex and then you leave,” I joked as I pulled on my panties.
He shook his head. “No, I mean, why do you have to go now? You can stay the night; I’ll drive you home in the morning.”
“You want me to stay the night?” I asked disbelievingly.
He pushed himself up off the bed and walked to me in all his naked glory. I couldn’t keep my eyes off his body. “Yeah, I want you to stay the night,” he confirmed, smiling his sexy smile at me, making my stomach flutter.
Oh, I can definitely stay the night!

Stripped Bare by Emma Hart RELEASE DAY BLITZ!

What do you get when you mix a bachelorette party, the queen of dating disasters, and a stripper so hot he was forged from the fires of hell? Screwed. You get screwed.... Cocky. Commanding. Powerful. Relentless. Those four words all summed up West Rykman perfectly. So did filthy, dirty, sexy, and addictive. He was supposed to be my one night stand...not my new marketing client. He was definitely not supposed to be back inside my pants, not that anybody told him that. I knew one thing: What West Rykman wanted, West Rykman got. And he wanted me. What happens in Vegas... might just make you stay.

★★★★☆

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I read the synopsis for this book... I hadn’t read a book about a stripper before, it never seemed to be my thing, but after seeing a few teasers for Stripped Bare I was intrigued, I wanted to know more about West and Mia and they didn’t disappoint in the slightest.

West and Mia are quite frankly hilarious together, I love the way they bounce off of each other and their banter is seriously epic! West surprised me, I was expecting him to be different, I don’t really know exactly what I was expecting I just know that it isn’t the West that we got, and let me just say that I LOVE the West Rykman that we got! Mia really amused me, she has so many different sides to her and because the book is told from her POV you get to know the real Mia and not the front she puts on for everyone else. I feel like I need to mention the friends... Beckett Cruz is West’s best friend and business partner, you get to see a bit of him but it’s nowhere near enough, he is one of those characters that you just instantly fall in love with. Allie, Jaz and Lucie are Mia’s best friends and her sounding board, they tell her when she’s overreacting or being crazy basically they are everything you need in a group of friends.

All in all I really enjoyed the story and I loved all the characters, Emma has managed to do something that I didn’t think anyone would... She wrote a book about a stripper that I not only wanted to read but enjoyed every single minute of! Thank you for another great book Emma!

EXCERPT

“You should have come and got me when that prick made you uncomfortable.”
I turned to face him. “Are you seriously telling me off?”
We paused as the traffic stopped, and he cut his gaze to me. “I couldn’t see you. I told you it wasn’t safe for you to go alone.”
I rolled my eyes. “He was only there for two minutes. I would have stabbed him with my stiletto before he could do anything.”
“And I believe you, but it doesn’t change the fact that he made you uncomfortable.”
We turned a corner.
“I don’t want anything to happen to you just because you’re determined to do market research.”
“Nothing happened to me.”
“Mia, it doesn’t change the fact that it couldn’t. He only left because I showed up. I watched the entire fucking thing.”
“And you only came in at the end? Gee, thanks, West. Knight in fucking shining armor right there, aren’t you?” I ran my fingers through my hair and looked away. The light curls were still in place, although they were more of a lazy wave, and I stared at my reflection in the side mirror. “We should probably not do this again.”
“On the contrary, I was having fun until the end. I don’t have fun much.”
“Looking out for me was fun? Yeah, okay.”
“I told you,” he said, pulling up outside my apartment block, which was really more of a converted three-story house. “I don’t want anything to happen to you. I’d feel bad.”
“Well, thanks. I’m gonna look over these notes in the morning and I’ll e-mail you. Okay?” I paused with my hand on the door and glanced back at him.
He was out of the fucking car.
Why was he out of the fucking car?
“Why are you out of the car?”
He smirked. Damn that smirk. “I’m taking you up.”
“Like hell you are.” I slammed the door and walked around the sleek Audi to stand right in front of him. I looked up at him and caught his gaze. “I can make it in and out of an elevator.”
“I’m sure you can. But I’m still taking you up.”
“No. You’re not!”
“All right, then.” He grabbed my waist and lifted me.
A shriek escaped between my lips as he swung me upward and over his shoulder. I scrambled to keep hold of my purse, but he ignored me as he carried me inside and pushed the elevator button.
“West! Put me down right now!”
He ignored me again and tightened his grip around my thighs when I tried to wriggle down. His strength was crazy. I was stuck there.
“Put me down! Now!”
He shook his head, this time acknowledging my words. But that was it. A fucking head shake.
“This is hardly professional!” I yelled, my voice echoing off walls of the metal box that was the elevator. I couldn’t believe he’d slung me over his shoulder like some kind of caveman.
Yo, Wilma, Betty? Fred and Barney escaped. I found one of them.
“West Rykman, I swear to a god I don’t believe in that, if you don’t put me down right this goddamn second, I’m going to tear your balls off with my bare hands and shove them up your ass!”
The elevators doors opened, and he took the few steps toward my door before finally, slowly, lowering me back down to the ground.
“Ugh!” As soon as my feet hit the floor, I stepped back and glared at him. “How dare you manhandle me?”
He fixed his bright, Caribbean-blue eyes on mine and curved his lips. “I told you I was taking you upstairs. I didn’t tell you I was walking you up.”
“You’re an animal.”
“You weren’t coming up alone. I was raised a gentleman.”
That made me stop rummaging for my keys and raise my eyebrows in disbelief. “You take off your clothes for a living, and the first time we met, you flexed your cock against my face.”
He grabbed my waist for a second time tonight and spun me against my door. I dropped my purse in my shock, but I couldn’t reach for it because he’d cupped my chin and forced me to look at him.
“And the second time we met,” he said in a low voice, “you flexed my cock against the back of your throat. What point are you trying to make, angel?”
“That you’re no more a gentleman than I am a lady,” I shot back. “Now, let me go so I can go inside and consider how we continue this professional relationship.”
West searched my eyes for a long moment before dropping his hand. He took half a step back, and I went to reach for my purse, but he changed his mind.
He smoothly spun back to me, and no sooner had I met the flash of his blue eyes than he had his mouth on mine. I let out a quiet moan when he swept his tongue across the seam of my lips and wrapped one arm around my waist. He pulled our bodies together, my shoulders pressing into the door, and kissed me deeply.
My head swam. I couldn’t make head or tails of this, and although it was wrong, so wrong, I couldn’t stop.
The kiss was hot—oh god, so hot—and my whole body felt like it was on fire as I wound my fingers in the collar of his shirt and held him closer to me. His fingers twitched against my back as one of his hands slid down and cupped my ass. He squeezed, pulling my hips to his. His erection was obvious, pushing into me, and I whimpered into his mouth.
God, I wanted him.
He pulled away from me as abruptly as he’d kissed me, but he didn’t move. His mouth eased its way across my jaw to my ear, and his hot breath skittered across my skin when he paused there.
“I might call you angel, but I have a feeling you’re going to be my own personal sin, Mia O’Halloran.”
He kissed the tender spot just beneath my ear, making me shiver, and released me. I struggled to control my breathing as I watched him walk away toward the stairwell. He paused at the top, and I sank my teeth into my bottom lip.
He turned.
Dropped his gaze to my mouth.
Met my eyes.
Disappeared.
I sank back against my door. I could still feel his touch. His taste lingered on my lips, and although it wasn’t anything incredibly specific, he was there, teasing me without being near me. I brushed hair from my face, picked my purse up, and dug for my key. I found it and let myself into the dark apartment.
I locked the door behind me and walked to my bed. I’d barely undressed and retrieved my phone with its alarm before I buried myself beneath the sheets.
Shit.

She likes to be busy - unless busy involves doing the dishes, but that seems to be when all the ideas come to life.
