AP - Synopsis.jpg

DANCE. Guns.

MUSIC. Bullets.

RHYTHM. Pain.

Music in my head, dance in my body, the rhythm of my heart.

How far can you fall in just one month? How quickly can the human spirit be broken? Where does evil hide in plain sight?

Ash wants to dance. Needs it. To leave behind a life of expectation and duty, to set his soul free.

But life is never that simple. Every step is a journey on a new road.

For every action, there is a reaction.

Every choice has a consequence.

And when you meet the wrong person, all bets are off.

Laney tolerates her limitations, pushing quietly at boundaries. But when Ash crashes into her world through rage and violence, it sets off a chain reaction that neither of them expected.

★★★★★

I was pleasantly surprised by Slave to the Rhythm... I had no idea what to expect going in, all the teasers I had seen had sparked my interest but the blurb is quite vague and the first 6 words of it are confusing to say the least, but now I’ve read it I totally get it, going in blind intensified my reaction to the story to the point where I was probably just as surprised by the twists and turns as the characters were, I want everyone to have the same experience that I had whilst reading so I’m going to keep this short and sweet and like the blurb it will be very vague to avoid spoilers.

Slave to the Rhythm is told from both Ash and Laney’s POVs, I felt that this raised the suspense in a way... Being given a taste of what is going on in both of the characters minds can be both heaven and hell for me, heaven because I get a fuller view of the story and hell because I can’t be inside both of their minds at once, there were times while reading Slave that I was dying to see what Ash’s thoughts were when I was stuck in Laney’s POV and vice versa, having said that this is one book that I wouldn’t want any other way, I just don’t think I would have been quite so hooked if it was in a single POV, the flipping back and forth between them had me tearing through the chapters wanting to see how the other one was coping/reacting to everything going on. The storyline is quite frankly phenomenal, I’m finding it hard to put it into words just how much I loved it, it’s taken me 2 days to gather my thoughts enough to write this and even then I sat here for a good half an hour staring at a blank page trying to get the words out! This could easily be Jane’s best work to date, it’s definitely one of my favourites so far, I know a book deserves 5 stars when it draws me in the way Slave did and I really wish I could give it more, because 5 just doesn’t seem like enough.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t be put off by the thought of the dancing or the violence! I’m not a dancing super fan and I don’t know what the moves or sequences are called but that in no way hindered my reading experience, Jane described the moves in such detail, without going into overkill, that I was able to picture the dances perfectly and the violence isn’t that bad it’s sporadic and yes some of you might find it hard to get through parts of it but just know that what awaits you on the other side is so very worth it.

Ash is a total enigma and I can only imagine how frustrating it is to be faced with his stubbornness and broodiness but I couldn’t help but be totally and utterly in love with him... He is so different from any character I’ve come across and his uniqueness is what I adore about him the most and Laney is just as stubborn and determined as Ash is, she is a totally unique character too, her determination and spirit are fiercer than I expected and I’m a little awed by her, by both of them to be fair, they surprised me at every turn.

Thank you for sharing this with the world Jane!

Laney POV
His eyes glowed, passion firing through them. Then he lowered his head and kissed the back of my hand.
It was a sweet, old fashioned gesture, totally at odds with the lust I saw as he let his eyes stroll across my body, seemingly unable to choose between my breasts or my lips.
I helped make up his mind by folding my arms around him and tugging his head down so I could press my lips against his.
He opened his mouth, then proceeded to give me the hottest, slowest, most tantalizing kiss I’d ever had. He was telling me that he was in control and he’d kiss me the way he damn well wanted.
Playful Ash, serious Ash, flirty Ash—I couldn’t help thinking that sexy-as-sin Ash was proving to be my favorite.
His hips moved in a slow rhythm that may have been dancing or may have been back-to-basics grassroots grinding. I reached down for the heat between his legs, massaging the growing bulge at the front of his jeans.
A shudder ran through his body and he ground harder against my hand. I couldn’t wait to be skin to skin.
I unbuttoned his shirt clumsily, fingers deft as sausages as I tried to get at his bare skin. He laughed against my lips and lifted his arms so I could pull the cotton over his head.
Skin like warm silk, smooth and soft, covering hard muscle, my fingers dragged across the planes and ripples of his chest and stomach, then fluttered over the welts and scarred flesh of his back.
Ash kicked off his shoes, and rid himself of the rest of his clothes before prowling toward me. His eyes said, naked now! Mine replied, make me.
He swept me from my feet so swiftly, my stomach swooped, and he carried me to the bed, our bed, working my clothes from my body between slow, hot kisses.
I closed my eyes, needing some defense against his beautiful face and the sensations that threatened to overwhelm me. He was an ocean wave, the high tide, and I was drowning in happiness and physical pleasure.

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to write. Perhaps it was growing up in a village well known for its mystery and folklore, which sparked my imagination as a child.
I enjoy writing in several different genres, and I've just published my first romcom, 'Dazzled'.
All my books have a little me in them, and I'm inspired by the personal stories of those around me. It's often from a simple discussion overheard in the train ('Exposure'), in a café, or in the street, where ideas for characters or scenes come to me.
I fell in love with both Sam ('The New Samurai') and the eponymous Sebastian in 'The Education of Sebastian' and the sequel 'The Education of Caroline', and missed them desperately once I'd finished their stories. I love writing dialogue and always try to include touches of humour in the most poignant stories.
Whether you like adult romance novels, new or young adult writing, thrillers, or fantasy, I hope you'll enjoy the journey through my stories.

Lane POV
I tiptoed into the living room to get a couple of cookies from the kitchen. I noticed that Ash had left the drapes open and it gave me a chance to study his beautiful face, younger and softer in sleep.
But he wasn’t asleep, and I froze.
He was stretched out on the couch, his bare chest almost luminous in the glow of the street lamps.
One hand rested on his chest, but the other…
The thin sheet was pushed down to his thighs and he was stroking himself. His long fingers that had massaged me so thoroughly earlier in the evening were firmly grasping his hard dick and working it up and down, his thumb sweeping over the wide head. His eyes were closed, his mouth slightly open, and his breaths were quick and shallow.
I knew I should turn around and go, leaving him alone in this very private moment, not watching like some creepy voyeur. But I couldn’t. I was mesmerized by the sight of him pleasuring himself, his hand moving faster, his firm chest rising and falling rapidly.
He muttered something in his own language, and I could tell by the tightness in his face that he was close. And God, if it wasn’t the hottest thing I’d ever seen.

★★★★★
I'm going to start this by saying that Roustabout IS a standalone, you don't need to read The Traveling Man & The Traveling Woman first but if you want Kes and Aimee's story then you should definitely read them too!

Wow... So Tucker and Tera really surprised me, they were in no way, shape or form what I was expecting them to be, in fact they are everything I expected and SO much more. Tucker seems to be the happy go lucky guy that is always smiling but in Roustabout you get his POV and you get to see the man beneath the mask... Trust me when I say that he is worth the wait! He's hot, he's a daredevil and he has charisma in spades, Tucker will charm his way into your heart before you even realise what's happening. Tera isn't your average Senator's daughter, her determination is what makes her so likeable for me, she changes so much over the chapters that it's hard to believe she's the same person! She has her eyes well and truly opened and almost like a butterfly she breaks free from what she was and transforms, becomes her own person and man is she fierce, she fights for what she wants and for what she believes in and isn't ashamed to do so. Their story had me hooked from the minute I started reading, my kindle came everywhere with me until I finished where I was just trying to fit in a bit of reading time no matter how brief. They are amazing separately but together they are an unstoppable force. I still find my mind wandering to them and I don't think for one second that I'll only be reading this the once, I just can't get these two out of my mind. My emotions while reading this were like a tornado, switching and changing course quicker than I could process them, it had me tied up in knots!

Roustabout is told from both Tucker's and Tera's POV so you get to see what they are both thinking and feeling throughout the book. I love multiple POVs as you get both sides to the story, it just creates this anticipation where I feel like I'm in on a secret that the other character/s isn't, so I wait for the bombshell to drop with bated breath.

If you have read the previous books then you'll recognise some familiar faces, the biggest ones being the carnie's! It has to be said that the carnival magic that poured from the pages of the previous books is STILL there, even 3 books later I'm feeling the magic as strong as I was from that very first page.

Jane really has a talent with words and the way she weaves them together to create this magical tale is phenomenal, I am truly in awe of this woman! Another 5 star read, thank you so much for sharing these two with the world Jane!!!

Excerpt

The motorcycles circled the stadium like gladiators, or maybe like men jousting on horseback in days gone by: charging at each other, daring each other, until eventually they were ringed around the outer fence, each preparing for their first jump. Zef went first, blasting off the ramp, followed a split second later by Tucker in the opposite direction, and I was so certain they were going to crash in the middle, I screamed and closed my eyes. Aimee squeezed my hand hard, causing me to wince. I opened my eyes just in time to see Kes leaping through a circle of fire, the flames glancing off his helmet. On and on it went, higher, faster, closer. Sweat trickled down my body, pooling under my armpits, leaving me drenched and weak. The engines revved and hummed, and then they all charged together, a flying tower of men, with Kestrel cartwheeling over the top of them. The crowd screamed and clapped and cheered, and Aimee and I stood up, shrieking with them. “Oh my God!” I yelled over the noise. “I nearly had a heart attack!” Aimee laughed and wiped her eyes. “Every time,” she whispered, her voice shaky. “Every time.” I followed her back to the RV where the guys were peeling off their sweat-soaked leathers, standing in their underwear, huge smiles plastered across their faces. Tucker scooped me up in a sweaty hug, his hot skin slick to the touch. “You are amazing!” I said honestly, a relieved laugh breaking out of me. “Stinky, but amazing!” He laughed loudly, his head thrown back, his eyes crinkling with happiness, and then he kissed me, deeply.

The Traveling Man (Traveling Series, #1)

traveling man
I was ordinary. Nice. He was extraordinary. And he wasn’t always nice.
Moody and difficult, brilliant and beautiful, Kes scared me and he protected me. He could be incredibly hurtful and incredibly thoughtful. He wasn’t perfect, but he was perfect for me. He challenged me, he took me out of my safe little box and showed me the world could be magnificent. He was everything I wasn’t. Aimee Anderson is ten when the traveling carnival first comes to her nice little town. She doesn’t expect her world to change so completely. But meeting Kestrel Donohue puts her life on a different path. Even though she only sees him for the two weeks of the year when he passes through her home town, his friendship is the most important of her life. As a child’s friendship grows to adult love, the choices become harder, and both Kes and Aimee realize that two weeks a year will never be enough.

The Traveling Woman (Traveling Series, #2)

traveling womanHow many times do you gamble on love? When love has knocked you down, should you give it another chance? When does optimism become stupidity?
And what happens when the man you’re in love with is never still, always moving, always traveling? Do you say goodbye, or do you leave behind everything that you’ve worked for, everything that you’ve ever known? Can a traveling carnival be my home? Oh. You thought I had the answers. No, sorry. No answers, just a lot of questions—and a heart that wants to rule my head. Can one person be my home?
