To Mend A Broken Heart by KA Hobbs SURPRISE RELEASE!!

To Mend a Broken Heart
by KA Hobbs

Katie’s life has been turned upside down. When an accident takes away her world, she can’t understand how she is supposed to go on living. Consumed by grief, everything hurts and the easy things are now the most difficult. When she decides to volunteer at the local children’s hospital she meets Daniel a man trying to overcome his own sadness. Together they form a friendship that helps heal them both. But is it too soon? Can Katie leave the past behind and move forward? Or are some wounds just too deep to heal?

★★★★★

The first word that comes to mind when I think of Daniel is SIGH.... Not a sigh of frustration or boredom but a breathy OMG-where-has-he-been-all-my-life kind of sigh! Daniel is quite simply perfection... He isn't just a book bf, he is so much more than that, he represents the strength we all have inside of us, the one that we don't even realise exists until we need to call upon it for whatever reason. I honestly can't put into words how Daniel makes me feel over than that huge sigh!!!

Daniel and Katie haven't had it easy by no stretch of the imagination and their story will have you in pieces more times than I can count, but what you'll soon realise is that one of their happy moments is worth all of the heartbreaking ones! They aren't like most fictional couples and they don't have the start that most couples do, their story is one of healing, of finding the light in the darkness, of finding that warmth that can only come from feeling truly loved. It's haunting, it's heart stopping and it's utterly breathtaking.

To Mend a Broken Heart really does have everything... Two solid and well developed main characters that'll capture your heart in seconds, incredible secondary characters that'll have you laughing more than you think possible and a magical storyline that'll make you believe that everything really does happen for a reason.

What you need to remember while reading To Mend a Broken Heart is that grief is subjective and you'll never know exactly how someone else's grief and guilt affects them, if you keep that in mind then you'll be able to fully appreciate the amazing story of Katie and Daniel. Thank you KA Hobbs for sharing these two and their beautiful story with the world, Daniel and Katie will forever have a piece of my heart. <3

EXCERPT

We finish packing everything away and before I know it, I’ve finished for the day. I’m not sure where Daniel is, Sally asked him to help her with something and he never came back. I want to say goodbye to him but I guess that won’t be happening. I grab my bag and jacket and make my way to the main door. Just as I push it open I hear my name being called from behind me. I turn around and see Daniel, rushing down the corridor with his jacket in his hands.

“I’m glad I caught you.” he pants.

“You are?”

“Yes.. I wanted to ask if you’d like to go out for a drink?”

I’m taken aback by his invite. Not sure how I should answer or even how I want to. A hundred different answers run through my mind, along with a thousand different reasons why I should say yes and the most important one being, because I want to. But I’m not sure I can make my mouth form the words my head is screaming at me to say.

“I’m not sure.” I answer honestly.

“I don’t mean anything by it, just.. I don’t have many friends Katie, and those I do have, they all look at me with the same look, the look that says I feel sorry for you. I don’t want people to feel sorry for me and I can’t spend another night alone. I’d really like to go out, have a couple of drinks and just be with someone who doesn’t know me for what I was then, but just for what I am now.”

His honesty surprises me, Daniel is nothing if not honest. I really do want to go out for a drink with him as friends, nothing more. I understand so very much exactly what he feels. A night without anyone asking me if I’m okay, a night without being Richard’s widow. That’s what I want.

“I’d love to.” I answer quickly, before my guilt can make me answer otherwise.

Author bio

KA Hobbs lives with her husband in Essex. When she isn’t lost in a book or creating one, she loves to cook, swim, colour and shop. Her happiest times are always when she is surrounded by family and friends or watching Cinderella which some might say she is a little obsessed with. She is a little obsessed with the Tudors and would love to go back to that period in time.

One day, while watching TV, a scene came to her, completely out of the blue. She could see the scene unfolding, could picture the characters so clearly. She couldn't get to her laptop quick enough and spent hours writing not only that scene, but lots of others too.

She will happily admit to being grumpy when she doesn’t get to write, she loves her characters and spending time listening to what they have to say.

★★★★★
All The Connected Series couples are amazing in their own unique ways so Jonathan and Miley had some HUGE expectations to live up to, and they surpassed every single one, they are incredibly strong and their love just leaps off the pages at you. Their story isn't easy... It's utterly heartbreaking in places and laugh out loud funny in others, it'll have you on one hell of an emotional roller coaster as that's what their journey is... Emotional.

What you see of Jonathan and Miley in the previous books really is just a snippet of how amazingly perfect for each other they really are! They have the most profound love, when she needs strength she draws it from him and vice versa, they are the epitome of soul mates and it shows in every page of Destined. Jonathan is so romantic and he truly worships Miley, she is his whole world and he not only tells her at every opportunity he shows her too, talk about swoon worthy! One of the things I love the most about Miley is that she doesn't take Jonathan for granted, she shows him how much she appreciates him at every turn. Their relationship is filled with the best banter and I was crying with laughter more than once... Duckies is all I'm gonna say! ;)

The thing I love the most about The Connected Series is that even though all the couples are extraordinary they are all unique... The thing I have noticed about the guys is that even though they share some similarities they have one overwhelming quality that makes them them. I'm SO glad that Jonathan and Miley got their time in the spotlight... Their story needed to be told, I have a new found appreciation for the couple you meet in Doubt now I know all their troubles, triumphs and hardships. Thank you for another amazing couple and another mind blowing book KA Hobbs!

EXCERPT

“Good morning.” I almost growl, my voice a little husky from sleep.
“Good morning, beautiful. Did you sleep well?” he asks, running his thumb over my jaw.
 “Really, really well.” I smile.
“Have I told you that your husky morning voice turns me on?” he half smiles at me and leans in for a kiss. I quickly back away and put my hand on his chest to keep him down.
“No kisses, I need to brush my teeth.” I cover my mouth as I speak.
“I don’t want to wait that long.” he growls and pulls me back to him kissing me thoroughly.
“Jonathan! That is gross! No kisses before I brush my teeth. Rule number one.”
“You taste just fine to me.” he laughs.
I hate to admit it, but he tastes just fine too, maybe more than fine. Okay, maybe he tastes bloody delicious. Before I decide to taste him again, I climb off the bed and slip on my robe. I hear a thud behind me and turn to see Jonathan shooting out of bed so fast he makes me jump.
“What are you doing?” he scowls at me.
“What? I’m going to make coffee?”
“What is this?” he tugs at the belt on my dressing down and it falls open.
“My dressing gown? I’m cold and I need coffee. What is wrong with you?” I laugh taking the belt in my hands again to tie it back up.
“No, no, no, NO! No dressing gowns.” he tells me shaking his head.
“I’m not making coffee naked, Jonathan.”
“Can you at least wear my t-shirt? Please? Not this awful monstrosity.” he tugs at my belt and manages to disrobe me.
“What’s wrong with my dressing gown?”
“Miley, it has rubber ducks on it.”
“And your point is?” I bend and scoop up his t-shirt and slip it on. His eyes darken instantly, it isn’t long on me at all and he can see everything.
“Rubber ducks do nothing for my erection.”
“Well, maybe that’s a good thing seeing as I don’t have time for that this morning.” I call over my shoulder as I walk out of my bedroom and to the kitchen.
“I can build it into my schedule, don’t you worry about that.” he calls after me.
I’m busy making the coffee when I feel a warm hand slide up my thigh. I’m pushed forward against the counter and a warm wall of naked Jonathan is pressed to my back. I look up at the clock in my kitchen. Six forty-five. Okay, maybe I have a little time.

“I blame the shoes.” I roll my eyes. Mr Gorgeous looks at me and grins.
“I saw the offending item… I’d blame the shoes too.”
“I’m Miley.” I hold out my hand and wait.
“Jonathan.”
When our fingers touch, my whole arm feels warm. I close my hand around his and we do a shake of sorts, the whole time my eyes are trained on his mouth. He has the most perfect mouth with full lips that are currently curved up in a sexy half smile. I could quite happily get lost in that mouth and never return. I can feel my pulse rate increase with each second. His other hand is still holding the ice on my ankle, and a shiver runs through me, but it has nothing to do with the ice.
“I don’t think you’re going to be able to walk on this for a day or so. How do you plan on getting home?” he asks, releasing my hand and placing it in my lap.
Would it be totally inappropriate to tell him, I don’t plan on going to my home, but his? I shake my head a little, trying to clear my head. I could try and blame the alcohol, but Jonathan is far more intoxicating to me than any kind of substance.

5*
I didn't for a second expect any couple to come close to Doug and Sophie but Harry and Megs are a real close second, there is just something about that cheeky lad ;) I really did adore them but I'm not going to sit here and say that I didn't want to bang their fictional heads together because I REALLY did, however the suspense that was created by all the drama was so spot on that I wouldn't be without it. If you liked Harry in Doubt and Assured then you will love him in Unexpected, where he was subdued in the previous books, he is well and truly in his element in Unexpected.

Along with the familiar faces from the previous books you also have the new characters from Australia and it has to be said that Jack and Josie are awesome, I loved the extra comedy that they brought to the book, I really do hope we see more of them. All the characters are so well developed that if it wasn't for the POV I would find it hard to distinguish between the main and secondary characters because they so clearly have their own issues and story to tell.

KA Hobbs keeps raising the bar, she never ceases to amaze me with each release. Thank you for another incredible insight into the Connected series gang <3
