Synopsis

Joss Parker’s life is a fairy tale come true. She’s a concert pianist in New York who lives with her longtime boyfriend and is close with her fiercely protective father—until one fateful night when she is taken in the middle of the night. In a desperate attempt to access a program that could be a threat to national security, her ability to play the piano is threatened. Her world comes crashing down when her father puts his need to protect a program over his own daughter. At the last minute, Joss finds herself whisked away by an unlikely ally. She later lands in the protective custody of none other than small-town bad boy and bar owner Derek Slade. Slade is entrusted to look after Joss and see to it that she hides behind her new persona, Jill, so that bad people don’t find her ever again. Joss has been erased. Joss is now Jill. As Joss trades her blond locks for Jill’s mahogany ones, she also takes on the strength of her new persona. Jill is someone who doesn’t put up with crap. Jill doesn’t trust easily. Jill must protect the broken heart of Joss. Joss and Slade battle an intense attraction, but she isn’t the only one with secrets. Behind Slade’s silver eyes are mysteries he’s unwilling to share. Slade knows better than to get involved with Joss, yet he finds it nearly impossible to push her away. What happens when Slade crosses the line of protector? Can he protect her when the evils of both of their pasts come back to haunt them?

My Review

5*
Id just like to start my review by offering both ladies a massive round of applause and laying an instant claim to Derek Slade...yes I'm afraid he's taken ladies. This book is one that truly makes you reflect upon the debate of nature vs nurture...Slade's character was brought into a world where he was taught to feel nothing and to always put himself first, never to let anyone get close enough to hurt him. Joss was a motherless, solidly middle class, product of the arts and yet it was Slade who came to her rescue and Joss that slid under his defences. Slade's character was funny, assertory and thoroughly seductive from the first scene to the last. Joss (Jane) was charmingly adorable with a side of sass...a true ''kitten with claws'' This book has truly touched my heart. Exquisitely written by both authors, the character development was utterly seamless and no point did it feel ''sewn'' together. A damn solid effort, this reviewer is predicting great things for Ms Christensen if this is anything to go on! More than just un-missable....this is essential reading! I couldn't recommend Erased more highly!

The Syrian Virgin by Zack Love BLOG TOUR!

BT Banner

Title: The Syrian Virgin

Author: Zack Love

Genre: Contemporary Fiction and Political/Interracial Romance

Cover Design: Pink Ink Designs by Cassy Roop

Synopsis

Anissa is traumatized by the most brutal conflict of the 21st Century: the Syrian Civil War. In 2012, Islamists in Homs terrorize a Syrian-Christian community and destroy everything that a young woman holds dear. Narrowly escaping death, Anissa restarts her devastated life as a college student in NY. She is bewildered and lost -- a virgin in every sense.

But despite her inexperience with men and life in the United States, Anissa is quickly drawn to two powerful individuals: Michael Kassab, the Syrian-American leader working to found the first Mideast Christian state, and Julien Morales, her Columbia University professor who runs a $20 billion hedge fund.

Complicating matters, Michael is still attached to his ex-girlfriend and Julien is the most sought after bachelor in Manhattan (and has hidden demons even his therapist can't extract). Anissa's heart and her communal ties pull her in different directions, as she seeks hope and renewal in a dark world.

WARNING: This book is about a young woman's difficult journey: her escape from Syria's Civil War, her transition to a new a country, and the relationships that she forms along the way, including her romantic interests in two very different men. The story is set against the backdrop of the Syrian Civil War and makes reference to violent acts, sometimes in detail. There is some occasional profanity and a few scenes that depict sexual intimacy. Accordingly, the recommended minimum age for readers is 16. The novel might be compared to books like "The Diary of Anne Frank" or "The Kite Runner."

Excerpt

We were peacefully rallying for our cause, when some strangers accosted me and started to debate us. But then it became clear that they didn’t really want to debate as much as harass . One of them then spat on me and tore up my sign, and then, as I was wiping off his spit from my face, I saw the placard in Michael’s left hand fall to the grass, as his right hand closed into an angry fist. Then I saw his clenched hand barrel thunderously from his side until it landed smack on the nose of the giant guy who had spat on me. I actually heard the thud of the impact, and the man just collapsed to the ground from the force of Michael’s blow. He was out cold.

“Come on, shitheads – who’s next?!” Michael shouted at the first two counter- protestors, gesturing them to step up for a fight. By then, their entire group had gathered around, so Michael was even more outnumbered. But his dangerous rage was palpable – as if he alone could destroy everyone there. More of our protesters also started showing up, after hearing or seeing the commotion. But they weren’t needed in the end. The counter-protestors there raised their hands in surrender and backed away in fear of this large man who just knocked out an even larger man with a single punch. “OK, OK, take it easy. We’re leaving,” they said.

“Apologize to her. Now!” he boomed, ready to rip them to shreds. The first two protesters looked at me meekly.

“We’re sorry… We’re sorry, ma’am, that our friend got out of hand.”

“Yeah, he shouldn’t have done that.”

“Now get the fuck out of here!” Michael commanded. “It’s cool, dude, we’re leaving,” one of them said, as the two of them picked up their dazed comrade with a bloody and probably broken nose, and left the area with him stumbling between them...

I went over to Michael and very conspicuously put my arm around his waist. I then pulled him in for a long and intense kiss, as if our future together depended on it. After a few minutes, we finally came up for air, and my face felt flush with impatient passion.

“Let’s go back,” I said.

Our Reviews

Lily's Review

5*

I honestly wish I had more than 5* to give this book, and that is not something I say lightly!
First off I feel the need to praise Mr. Love for the way he tackled a controversial topic, he did so in a flawless way that meant that even if the reader was ignorant of the Syrian Civil War or the issues surrounding it, that by the end of the book they were more than up to speed!
I can rarely pick up a book and relate to the majority of the characters, the Syrian Virgin is the exception! I found that even if I wasn't able to empathize with them, that I could sympathise with the emotions and realistic scenarios they found themselves in, and that, for me, is the key to a 5* book. They have some serious and quite heavy issues to overcome both individually and as a group but those mental and physical problems are dealt with in such an emotive, and ultimately honest, way that I found it positively refreshing!
The story is utterly captivating and had my full attention from start to finish!
I was sucked into their world and wasn't released until I had read every last word that they had to give! I can't remember the last time I picked up a book (that wasn't a textbook) and learnt something new! And for all of these reasons it now shares the spot as my #1 favourite book of all time!
A simply amazing book and you should all go one click right now!!!

Belle's Review

5*

This is the story of a young girls poignant and heart wrenching journey from Homs to the bright lights of New York City. Anissa is a very intelligent young girl and her family use that to their advantage to release and rescue her from war-torn Syria, before she leaves something happens (I'm not telling you what, so don't ask...go read the book) that leaves her utterly heart broken and traumatized beyond belief. Everything about her new city is foreign to her and she struggles with a fairly massive case of Post traumatic stress disorder and, I believe, a lot of survivors guilt too. Here she meets a young man that inspires her to speak up and campaign for her countrymen and in doing so, honouring her parents. Enter the dark, troubled (and very sexy) professor/business tycoon facing a lot of demons of his own. I know what your all thinking, this doesn't sound very romantic...well, in my opinion it isn't really a romance novel...not in the standard sense anyway...it's far more than that! What Zack Love has written here is a modern day masterpiece. Think War and Peace and you'd be closer! Exceptionally well written and touching beyond belief! Zack has managed to paint a mental picture in my psyche that no amount of ''fluffy literature'' can (or indeed should) erase. He has managed to highlight the many difficulties and travesties that are an every day occurrence in Syria and the worlds general ignorance and belief in the propaganda that's portrayed in the world press (I'm guilty of it myself) I'm giving Zack 5 stars because he earnt every last one of them. This is one of the few instances that I wish that I could have awarded more. Truly Exceptional! 5 STARS

About The Author

Zack Love graduated from Harvard College, where he studied mostly literature, psychology, philosophy, and film. After college, he moved to New York City and took a corporate consulting job that had absolutely nothing to do with his studies. The attacks of September 11, 2001 inspired him to write a novelette titled “The Doorman” and heightened his interest in the Middle East. A decade later, that interest extended to the Syrian Civil War, which provided the backdrop for his latest work. In late 2013, Zack began releasing his unpublished works of fiction and became a full-time author. He has published comedy, psychological and philosophical fiction, and romance. Zack enjoys confining himself to one genre about as much as he likes trying to sum up his existence in one paragraph.

Forbidden a Regency Collection RELEASE DAY BLITZ!!

Is there anything more scrumptious than

forbidden love?

Frederick Dodsworth has no desire to find love at Anthony Wexley's Christmas gathering. Yet when he lays his eyes on the beautiful Rebecca for the first time, he is beyond smitten.
Lust turns to love. Love turns to jealousy. Jealousy turns to betrayal.
How did Frederick Dodsworth become the most evil man in Darenset?  Simple. It started with a kiss.

For the Love of A Lady – Kristin Vayden

Jilted, rejected, unwanted.

Lady Esther Flanguard is all of the above… but that’s all about to change soon.
Because, Essie has a plan. And it’s sure to work brilliantly.
The only thing standing in her way is trying to convince Cross—her best friend’s brother—to go along with it.

Lord Crossby, Cross to those who know him well, knows that Essie’s plan is not a good idea.
Because Essie doesn’t know, is that he’s been in love with her for years. He refuses to leave this second chance left to fate. He lost her once, and plans to never lose her again.

So, knowing he’ll risk his heart, he agrees to play along with her disastrous plan. Silently vowing, that though Essie might be pretending…he isn’t, and this time he’s playing for keeps.

The Devil Duke Takes A Bride – Rachel Van Dyken

Who said being bad wasn't oh so good?
Benedict Devlyn, Duke of Banbury, has one thing on his mind and it isn't marriage. But things take a turn for the worse when his menacing aunt throws a hitch in his plans to remain the most sinful and talked about man in the ton. After all, a man cannot keep the reputation of being The Devil Duke when he is leg-shackled to some simpering spinster.
But his aunt, bless her heart, thinks she's dying, and believes her nephew's behavior is the only thing standing in the way between her entrance to heaven or hell. So she very lovingly and selflessly sets him up. With his childhood nemesis.
A young woman who, though she claims it was an accident, has nearly killed him thrice through her lack of grace and manners. It matters not that the minute he sets eyes on her at the Christmas ball, his blood boils with lust. He refuses to allow himself to fall prey to his aunt's ministrations.

That is, until he is compromised and stuck in an engagement to a girl who claims she'd rather jump from a moving carriage than marry him. Funny thing that, for the very minute she says no, he finds his heart very much wants to say yes. When she doesn't leap at the chance to marry him, he sets about to not only prove that he's worthy of her favor, but also worthy of her heart.

A Winter Wish – Nadine Millard

Mariah Bolton is as headstrong as she is clever, as strong-willed as she is beautiful. She enjoys her life and, apart from a rather snobbish mama, she is happy with her lot.
Imagine her consternation then when her world is turned upside down by the brooding and aloof Mr. Brandon Haverton!
Mariah and Brandon are forced to endure each other’s company more than either wants to when a snowstorm traps them in the same house.
They argue, they bang heads and they drive each other insane.
But something precious is blooming beneath the surface of all that ice. Something neither looks for but both need.
Can love melt the snow around Brandon’s cold heart?
Can Mariah be brave enough to take a leap of faith?
And can a Winter Wish help bring two souls together forever?

Besieged by Rain by Michelle Irwin EXCLUSIVE ADVANCE COVER REVEAL!!!!

Besieged by Rain by Michelle Irwin

***ABSOLUTELY NO SHARING***

The Son of Rain series is a companion series (of sorts) to the Daughter of Fire series
featuring Evie Meyers. We say of sorts because Clay’s story, albeit partly told in Evie’s books, is so much bigger. This is not simply a retelling of the story from Clay’s perspective. Clay lives a whole other life that Evie only gets a glimpse of when their story unfolds.

Blurb

Clay Jacobs is a soldier. His family—elite members of a secret organization—are tasked with washing the world clean of all supernatural threats. Each new day brings the opportunity to fight at their side for a cause that he’s never doubted is just.

But Clay harbors a dangerous secret. The object of his teenage obsession was not human, and he failed to detect the truth until it was too late to destroy her. Even after she fled, he couldn't bring himself to report her. Now, the memory of the one who got away not only haunts him, it holds him captive and assaults him nightly. Unable to escape her hold on his mind, he races across the country to locate her and restore his sanity. Only instead of the monster he expects, he finds a woman who ensnares him with her charms. In her embrace, Clay dares to imagine a different life.

When his family discovers his betrayal, and threaten to destroy his dreams in the worst way imaginable, Clay has no option but to return to their side and convince them he’s back on the right track. Will he be able to play his part convincingly when the cause he’s spent most of his life fighting for is the very thing that will end his lover’s life?

My Review

3.5*
As a fan of paranormal novels I was actually rather looking forward to reading this! the blurb sounded intriguing and the premise was good! I hadn't heard of Shannon prior to reading 'Kissing the devil' but personally I think that that's going to change very soon! she's a sassy new author who manages to set the scene well and keep up the suspense all the way through! However, there were a few continuity problems and I found it difficult to relate to Serenity as a character. Overall, a very good effort and I'll happily read anything else that Shannon writes. I'm expecting great things in the future.

My Review

4.5*
I have to admit that I was a tad hesitant to read 'he saved me!' but I should have had a little more faith. Whitney amazes me a little more with every single books she writes! Continuation stories have a general habit of annoying me and never living up to expectations and I was genuinely afraid that some of the continuity would be lost, I was, however, blown out the water! Julian was amazing and dreamy as ever and then there was the fiery and fiercely protective Six....now there is one hell of a revelation! (no I'm not telling you what happened....read the book...and trust me you're going to want to read this book) He saved me took me to places in my heart and soul that even fallen angels would fear to tread! My only slight complaint here was the length! I wanted more! but then that's always the way with a truly great author....they leave you wanting more -sigh- well done Whitney! A well deserved 4 1/2 stars!

Please note: This is a continuation of He Found Me. Characters from Ten Below Zero do appear in He Saved Me. This is the final installment of Julian and Andra's story. The sequel is 99 cents for Release Weekend ONLY. The first book, HE FOUND ME, is available on Kindle Unlimited.
